You will NEVER manage to build this. You’d have to get it so exact. It’s fucking cool though.
I don’t think this would be very too diffcult to make. It looks like there are 8 chain links between each brass number. All you would need to do is make sure that the sprocket only rotates through 8 teeth every hour.
An easier way would probably be to space out the brass numbers the same number of links as the sproket has teeth (eg: 12 chain links between each number, using a 12 teeth sprocket) and make the sprocket rotate once every hour, by using an existing clockwork.
Either way, I want this on my wall!
It’s pretty awesome; and I’m with Brendan: I don’t think it would be that difficult.
I mean, if you’re saying you want to eventually make a gear that does 0.0014rpm, then yeah, okay, that’s got to be a very small tolerance for getting it wrong.
But at the same time, you can buy clockwork mechanisms for pence, so it can’t be *that* difficult.
